Whether learning herbs for personal use, to help family and friends, or to develop a foundation for a career as a medical herbalist, hands-on experience is indispensable. We have to taste the herbs, take them, and use them in our daily life or else our knowledge remains theoretical. We also have to get rid of a "take-this-for-that-disease" mentality and experience more deeply what herbs actually do to our tissues, functions, and moods. We need to understand also their temperatures, whether they are likely to heat us up, cool us off, dry us out, or moisten our dryness, whether they relax our tension or firm up our lax tissues or organs. In this webinar I will teach you how to experiment with herbs in order to know their effects first-hand. We will cover 40 of the most important herbs for daily life or for clinical practice. Each webinar will have recommended projects and exercises.

About Paul Bergner, RH(AHG)

"Over the past twenty years, I have trained 236 students as complete clinical herbalists in a two-year program with a public teaching clinic, and I have also trained more than 400 entry-level students via distance learning in a First Course in Medical Herbalism. The foundation of all these programs has been personal experimentation and experience, and I have a good insight into what sort of hands on experiences and ways of thinking about herbs that a student needs in order to use them practically or to recommend them to others in a clinical setting."

Paul Bergner has practiced as a nutritionist and medical herbalist since 1973. He has edited the Medical Herbalism Journal since 1989, and written seven books on herbalism, nutrition, naturopathy, and Chinese medicine. From 1996 to 2012 he supervised two teaching clinics in medical herbalism and clinical nutrition in Boulder, CO.
